Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at matthewmissionfoodpantry@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

We are open on the 2nd  Saturday of each month.

Shopping here is like going to a grocery store - you look at the shelves, and pick the items you like best.  Come to the side entrance of the church with the "Matthew Mission Outreach Center" sign above it. You will have to go down six steps.

A volunteer will be give a rolling cart with a reusable bag inside to fill with your selections. We offer shelf stable foods- items in boxes, cans, jars, and similar packaging.  We do not have refrigeration and cannot offer fresh produce.   We are sometimes able to offer personal goods like shampoo and toilet paper.  Our items fluctuate based on what is donated.   There is a one bag limit for customers, except families with children at home who can take two bags.

We serve all who live in Taunton and the communities that directly border Taunton: Norton, Easton, Raynham, Lakeville, Berkley, Dighton, Rehoboth and Middleboro.

No charge.

All of our items are donated or purchased.    If you are able, please consider donating.

We greatly appreciate donations of soups, stews, cereal, pancake mix, oatmeal, pasta and sauce - any kind of non perishable goods that you like to eat.  No expired items, please.

No.  You must travel a short staircase to enter and exit the pantry.

Absolutely, we have families who bring their children to our pantry every week.

You can donate any time we are open

You can also drop off food any time Chalice Thrift,  also at 76 Church Green, is open:

Thursdays 12pm-7pm and Saturdays 9am-12pm.

Our name is taken on the story in the Book of Matthew

Why are we called "Matthew Mission?"

"When I was hungry, you gave me something to eat, and when I was  thirsty, you gave me something to drink. When I was a stranger, you  welcomed me,  and when I was naked, you gave me clothes to wear. When I was sick, you took care of me, and when I was in jail, you visited me. "
