My PMC Ride went very well last year. I did the one day ride from Wellesley To Bourne, it was 85 miles with 3044 feet of climbing and i was on the bike 6 hours, 25 minutes, and 48 seconds. There were no major incidents this year except it was 43 degree at the start - very cold.
My fundraising went well, with $24.664 raised this year, bringing my overall 25 year total raised for Dana Farber to $515,684. There were about 6500 rides an the weekend raised 78 million dollars.
The PMC is certainly a great event but this year I have set my sights on a new endeavor. The Matthew Mission Food Pantry is located in the First Parish Church in Taunton, Mass and is open two Saturdays per month. Food insecurity is a major and growing issue and this pantry provides food for 125 families from Taunton and 8 surrounding communities. This pantry is run totally by volunteers, a group of extremely nice and dedicated people who provide food with an emphasis on personal dignity.
I will be 80 in July, and plan to do an 80 mile bike ride to raise money for this important and very wonderful organization. At least one other person,a pantry board member, John Garvey will join me.
I hope you will consider making a donation by writing a check to the Matthew Mission Food pantry or donating online. Your donation is fully tax deductible and remember 100% of your donation goes to adding food to the pantry.
Thank you so much for your support over the past 25 years and I hope you will join me for this new adventure.

Fighting hunger with an emphasis on personal dignity - our guests can select what they need from our shelves.

The Matthew Mission opened in 2016, providing food and respite to homeless individuals. In 2021 we transitioned into a food pantry to address local food insecurity.

Our food pantry serve seniors, individuals and families with children. We value the diversity of our community and our customers.
In this episode of FYI with John McCaul, John welcomes Norm Grenier, President of the Matthew Mission Food Pantry. The goal of the Matthew Mission is fighting hunger with an emphasis on personal dignity - their customers can select what they need from the shelves of the food pantry.

This audio spot explains our food pantry's history and mission.
